Why Else You Shouldn't Smoke

Perhaps the most common warning that smokers get is that their habit could cause cancer. This is a valid warning that should be taken seriously. Any voice changes in a smoker that lasts longer than 3 weeks should certainly be checked out by an ENT doctor, as this could be a sign of vocal cord cancer. However, smoking can cause a myriad of other problems related to the ear, nose, and throat. These problems could arise from secondhand smoke inhalation as well.

A few of the symptoms smoking can cause includes:

·      Eustachian tube dysfunction which can lead to ear infections and ringing

·      Sinusitis

·      Loss of smell and taste

·      Chronic laryngitis and hoarseness

·      Sore throat and chronic coughing

If you smoke and are experiencing these symptoms, the best thing to do is quit smoking.
