Nose insured for $ 8 million.

WHO - Ilja Gort

WHERE - BORDEAUX, FRANCE

In 2008, Dutch winemaker Ilja Gort, owner of Chateau de la Garde in Bordeaux, France, insured his nose for $8 million through Lloyd’s, which had previously insured many a winemaker’s tongue. Why the nose? Gort claims his nose can distinguish millions of different scents, unlike the tongue, which has only five basic areas of taste.

As a condition of his policy, Gort is prohibited from participating in winter sports, boxing or fire breathing. Yes, fire breathing.

Personally, I think that glorious facial hair should also be insured. He looks like quite a character.
