Q: Do you do nose jobs?
So “nose jobs”, or rhinoplasties, are when a surgeon changes the external shape of a patient’s nose. They usually are done because a patient doesn’t like the way their nose looks. Surprisingly, rhinoplasty is actually one of the most challenging surgeries for an ENT for a few reasons:
Beauty is somewhat subjective. Some people have a very specific idea of what they think a beautiful nose looks like, and achieving a successful outcome isn’t as easy as just removing a structure (like a tonsillectomy) or placing an implant (like an ear tube).
The nose has internal structures that interact with each other, kind of like a pyramid. If you shorten one leg of a pyramid, it changes the structure, but not always consistently.
Rhinoplasty is very difficult to “re-do” Michael Jackson is a perfect example of surgeons attempts to “re-do” nose jobs way too many times.
Since I didn’t get nearly enough training in residency in performing rhinoplasty, I don’t do them. BUT, my partner, Dr. Cho, has had many years of experience and is very proficient at performing them. There have been a number of patients who have had internal nasal airway work done by myself and then also had Dr. Cho perform work on the external cosmetic structures during the same surgery.
Call our office (817-261-3000) if you’d like to set up an appointment to see Dr. Cho.
